This offering from Wipro enables organizations to manage their B2B and EDI operations by outsourcing non-core business functions, streamlining processes, and improving efficiencies. This has lower total-cost-of-ownership (TCO) without capital investments in application and infrastructure. There are no upfront licensing and upgrade fees.

Product Software Solutions
Product Software solution enables quick development of high volume low margin products in some key identified areas and enables customers to rapidly evolve the product portfolio with minimized risk. Risk is being shared by an ecosystem of partners led by Wipro. Wipro has software solution for DSLAM box and has roadmap for developing software components for Ethernet OAM, Connectivity fault Management etc.

This solution helps customer to evolve its product portfolio with reduced investment into R&D and faster time to market advantages. Customer can leverage Wipro's partnership across the ecosystem and share risk on the product launch. Customer can address Access or Aggregation market needs based product realization at a target cost. Wipro's solution provides customizability to enable differentiation for customers on their product portfolio.

Value Engineering
With increasing pressure on products to do more, organizations are increasingly looking at Re-Engineering existing products to extend their life and make them more competitive. This can be done by reducing the cost of the product to spur sales or add functionality to have a derivative product.

Wipro leveraged these services for a consumer electronics firm looking to reduce the total cost of production of a media & entertainment product that was 18 months from end-of-life. Wipro, through redesign of the hardware while maintaining the regulatory compliance requirements, was able to provide a cost reduction of $2 million.

Wipro provides cost-effective implementation through alternate sourcing, qualification of component MTBF and component substitution for existing designs. Furthermore, Wipro can re-engineer an existing product for better ergonomics and optimize the cost vs. performance of a product to make an existing product market ready.

Port on Demand
Wipro has a unique ‘Port-on-Demand’ service for porting of analog-mixed signal IC designs from one process/geometry to another process/geometry. Port-on-Demand helps reduce the overall effort spent in this porting by ensuring minimal design set up at start of migration. The service ensures high quality, reliability of migrated designs and minimal design finishing to reach target process/foundry.

For example, for a European IDM, Wipro ported a chip with 17 modules (including RF blocks) from TSMC CMOS090RF (90nm RF) to TSMC CMOS065RF (65nm RF). This helped the client save 11 weeks from the estimated 15-18 month cycle time to redevelop the existing GSM IP in 65nm. The development cost savings were close to 50%.

Sustenance Factory
Towards the product end-of-life, maximizing the returns can make a product a star performer rather than just a liability. With committed customers, it is extremely important to have the right support as well as engineering sustenance of the product.

Extending our services beyond the new product development phase, post the product launch, Wipro undertakes a series of sustenance and support activities for our client. These services are for value engineering, product migration to new geographies, bug fixing and technical support (level 1 to level 4). Sustenance services include defect resolution, software releases, field support, factory support, qualification test support as well as value engineering

However the challenge of today being minimize cost and efforts in sustaining mature/end-of-life products, Wipro provides clients the ability to compute and visualize overall and year-wise cost savings through outsourcing model.

Customer can focus on the next generation products and program leaving the support & sustenance work to Wipro. Customers can leverage Wipro’s ROI calculator to compute overall returns as well as YOY returns for a period of 1 to 10 yrs. The calculator considers the overall sustenance program plan and accounts for costs/investments incurred by both customer and Wipro involving resources, infrastructure, tools/licenses etc.

Wipro’s Labs on Hire Services help Clients conserve their capital and reduce the overall cost of Testing by leveraging Wipro’s state of the art Labs Infrastructure on pay per use model. Wipro’s Labs are equipped with latest industry equipments and leverages automation frameworks, unique virtualized delivery models and performance testing capabilities and expertise.

Traditionally, majority of the projects use models like fixed price or time & materials based pricing. However, the changing market dynamics makes it imperative to look at alternate models which are based on business outcomes.

Risk-Reward Based Pricing
Wipro shares the upfront costs of development and the downstream revenue generated by the new product or service with its clients. This is based on a partnering culture with our clients. The level of initial investment is gauged in advance and then accordingly performance measures like ROI etc. are established. This also helps in leveraging the intellectual property of our clients.

Gain Sharing/Business Benefits based Pricing
Payment is in proportion to the business value generated by the project or service offered by Wipro, such as a percentage of increased profit or reduced operating expenses. This works best when there are well-defined baselines and goals. Instead of linking bonuses and penalties to just savings, other metrics like revenue, service volume etc. are also used. The choice of the benchmark metric would depend upon the nature of the project. This helps in the alignment of business value generated and cost to our clients. There is also no investment for new technologies or processes.
