About Chennai Runners
The Chennai Runners group was founded by Hari, Vidyut and Ram in 2006. It was christened the Chennai Runners during a run. Soon the group began with their regular city runs. But the urge for longer distance runs was a strong urge and thus was born the ECR runs, something which the group is famous for. The first such ECR run was organized in March 2007 and there has been no looking back since. With the popularity of the ECR run increasing, the number of runners grew which gave rise to safety issues on the busy stretch. It was then decided to switch the quarterly run to a signature annual event in partnership with IIT Madras

The group has several successful 'runs' to its credit and some of these include
  • Anniversary Fun Run
  • The 10x10
  • May Midday Madness
  • Chennai Marathon (in its earlier versions)
  • Shahid Ultra

The success of the Chennai Runners have helped propagate the benefits and sheer joy of group runs and this has given rise to the formation of a few groups like the YMCA Runners and the Dream Runners.
