| |
| |
| The idea |
| Deploy a seamless, automated and integrated eProcurement system across trading partners worldwide. |
| |
| The client |
| A Fortune 500 company, the client is one of the largest specialty electronics retailer in the US. The company operates a chain of about 700 stores in the US and Canada, and sources products from traders across the globe. |
| |
| The business challenge |
With the business spanning geographies, the client was looking to consolidate organization spend on operating resources. The client intended to build an efficient “source-to-pay” process, thereby reducing the costs at all points in the value chain, while adopting easy-to-use tools that follow the best of breed procurement methods and processes. Other areas of concern for the client were:
Enable electronic invoicing for suppliers by implementation of an e-procurement system |
Provide single authentication for users |
An accurate assignment of roles and permissions to different users, among others |
Looking forward, the client was seeking a suitable partner for upgrade of its existing Ariba application and to provide maintenance and support of its applications. |
| |
| The solution |
Wipro assumed the total ownership of client’s Ariba applications landscape on a Global Delivery Model. With activities involving detailed analysis and design, system configuration and development and unit testing, Wipro’s team was responsible for the Ariba implementation and the various enhancements that were taken up periodically.
A snapshot of the engagement follows:

Ariba T&E Capability release |
Integration of Ariba Buyer with Oracle 11i |
Integration with FAPA |
Integration with Lightweight Directory Access Protocol(LDAP) |

Further, the various point solutions undertaken by the team to enhance the capability/ performance of the Ariba application included - implementation of real time spend monitor, configurable catalog filter, integration of implemented application with bar-code software, and invoice module implementation. Wipro’s involvement in the project has been end-to-end including chalking out the implementation road-map, program guide and championing the project planning from kickoff stage to implementation of new suite of products. The total solution was formulated, designed and implemented using the Ariba Buyer 7.0.4 on three-tier J2EE architecture. |
