The customer had built multiple departmental data marts over a period of time to take care of their analytical needs. The reporting application comprised of over 600 reports built on three different BI reporting tools without adequate documentation. With so many reports across the disparate systems / tools, the internal teams were not able to utilize them optimally and use them effectively for taking business decisions.

The priority requirement that came up was to rationalize the number of reports after studying the reporting usage pattern and also standardize on the reporting tool across the customer's organization. Other requirements included, building new reports to take care of the additional information needs of the business users.

The customer also wanted a reliable and experienced partner who could also maintain and support their reporting environment for a longer period of time.

Taking stock on the situation, Wipro made an in-depth study to identify all relevant reports that needed to be migrated to the new reporting environment. This ensured avoiding any duplication of reports. The team then established a well-defined process for report development and maintenance. 95% of the existing reports were effectively migrated to new tools and platforms. The reports that could not be implemented in the new reporting environment were identified and maintained in the alternate tool. To ensure performance, the Multi-Server Architecture was configured (to support Load Balancing). Wipro Team's experience and familiarity with Business Intelligence processes helped to chart out a well-defined process for report development and maintenance.

For our customer, this meant that they were able to quickly and effectively migrate to newer tools and platforms and in process gained a strategic partner who maintains as well as supports the changing decision-making needs of the business users.
