Wipro was engaged by the client to build a new state of art billing and invoicing system, for complex billing and invoicing procedures involved for large industrial consumers of gas.
The suggested solution is being designed and developed using the Oracle Integrated Developer Suite 6i, as front-end and Oracle 8i database as back-end. It incorporates the flexibility required for generating invoices by providing flexible options to calculate the charges. The system is tightly coupled with the existing SMS so data from the previous system will be accessed from existing system through the framework and the new data will be entered or loaded as required through the framework. The system provisions for the reporting developed using Oracle Reports. There is provision to generate intermediate reports (Backup Reports) to check for the correctness of the generated invoices. These generated reports (Calculations, Invoices, Credit Notes) can be directly sent to the customers through Email, without any external interference.

Wipro's solution has resulted in a a highly flexible system for complex pricing options. It has also resulted in educing manual effort and on-time invoicing. The billing system also provides for break up of information of various charges involved in the invoicing calculation, thus making it more transparent to the customer.
