Computing part costs online for a Japanese software and database company

The customer

A software and database company, based in Japan. The company aims to be an online engineering service provider for made-to-order parts.

The challenge

The customer wanted a web-based system that would compute the costs of made-to-order parts. The requirements included:

	Scalable architecture
	Localization to Japanese language and international English
	Customizable user experience

The solution

Wipro built a complete web based costing system that was designed from ground up to support multiple languages concurrently. The application was based on existing VB code and was released two weeks before the planned date. Wipro also provides the customer with ongoing support, installation and new releases testing.
The following technologies were used:

	EJB and pure Java based components
	JSP based UI
	iPlanet web server
	Oracle database engine

The costing system allows the company to provide and control a single application to all their clients, resulting in better costing models and reduced application maintenance expenditure.
