| Skandia makes use of an AS/ 400 system to process between 170,000 to 200,000 policies in single jobs related to the calculation of charges, reserve values and premium every month. During the peak hours the combination of large resource-demanding batch jobs and the interactive-user jobs made the system resources extremely low. Consequently, the response times of interactive-user applications decreased with the time per job being approximately 22 hours. This had a major impact on the daytime work/ activities of the client. |
