The idea
Integrate APAC into the enterprise network to improve ability to access and share worldwide network resources, applications and shared folders.

The client
Honeywell is a $23 billion diversified technology and manufacturing leader, serving customers worldwide.

The business challenge
Honeywell's Windows architecture for the Asia Pacific region (APAC) region comprised of 16 account domains, spread across 11 countries and 58 sites. The lack of integration was severely hampering the ability of APAC employees to access computer resources across the company, including critical corporate applications. Employees around the world had similar difficulties accessing information on the APAC network.

The solution
Wipro carried out a pre-migration workshop for better understanding of Honeywell's requirements.
Six WINS servers and 12 Domain Controllers were deployed in 11 countries to support the WINS and NT migration initiatives. Following this Honeywell's APAC network was integrated with the rest of the network to support the strategic initiatives. Users and groups were migrated from 16 domains into a single master account domain.
Elaborate risk and mitigation plans were identified for addressing issues and concerns during the project. In spite of relocation of a project team due to the SARS outbreak, there was zero impact on project delivery and the execution of the entire project was performed from a single location and completed ahead of schedule
Wipro received a Customer Satisfaction Rating of 5/5 from Honeywell on delivery, quality and service.

Business benefits
  • Enhanced collaboration and resource sharing across global locations.
  • Centralized management and fewer management entities.
  • Continued access to network resources even during link failures with a revised authentication approach
