Sudip Nandy is the Chief Executive of the Telecom and Product Engineering Solutions Business Unit at Wipro Technologies. This unit, with over 18000 people and revenue run rate of US$1B is the largest third party R&D Outsourcing Services firm in the world. Telecom and Product Engineering Solutions Business Unit has over 150 customers worldwide and operates from 7 delivery locations in India, and over 10 delivery locations in America, Europe and Asia. Sudip is a member of the IT Management Council of Wipro and a co-convener of the IT-Strategy Council of Wipro.
Prior to taking over this role Sudip was the Chief Strategy Officer of Wipro responsible for setting and driving the strategic direction of Wipro Technologies globally. His responsibilities included mergers and acquisitions for Wipro. In 2006 & 2007 he spearheaded the successful completion of nine M&A and two JV transactions. This included the largest ever outward acquisition by an Indian headquartered IT Services company - the acquisition of Nasdaq listed Infocrossing for US$600M+. He also led the integration efforts for these deals.
In addition to this Sudip has played a key role in defining the Strategic Alliances Framework for the Global IT Business which contributes over 6% of Wipro’s revenues. This included partnerships that span multiple industry verticals and Service lines and has lead to a number of 360 degree partnerships that cover sell-to, buy-from and sell-with relationships. Sudip has also been the head of the Microsoft Business unit at Wipro.
Sudip, has been with Wipro since 1983, in a variety of business and technology roles. Prior to becoming the Chief Strategy Officer, Sudip was the Head of the overall Wipro business in Europe where between 2000 - 2004 Wipro grew by 5 times in 4 years. Sudip has also worked in the Silicon Valley for the better part of the 90s first heading the R&D Services and Technology Business of Wipro in USA and subsequently as the Vice President of Product Development and Marketing at a Silicon Valley start-up which was subsequently folded into Wipro. Sudip has an extensive understanding of both the technical and business imperatives of the outsourcing IT business as well as the hi-tech and design services business.
Sudip has a Bachelors Degree in Physics with Honours from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and another one in Electrical Technology and Electronics from the Indian Institute of Science in Bangalore. He is also an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad. Sudip has been an active member of the Institute of Directors.
