The 36-year old Wipro San Francisco Marathon 2013 (TWSFM) is a landmark event for the Bay Area attracting 25,000 runners and 100,000 spectators from the US and abroad. It celebrates the spirit and dedication of the many individuals and teams who run the race. It also demonstrates Wipro's commitment to giving back to the communities where we work. The Marathon is known for its scenic views and is the only race that runs on the roadbed of the Golden Gate Bridge
Wipro sponsored the full marathon winners of The Wipro Chennai Marathon 2012 to participate in The Wipro San Francisco Marathon 2013, in the Elite Runners category. Ismail Ssenyange, the men’s full marathon winner of TWCM; successfully completed the full marathon at The Wipro San Francisco Marathon, coming in as the first runner up. The Marathon is known for its scenic views, is a loop course that starts and finishes on the Embarcadero and runs along the waterfront of San Francisco Bay through Fisherman's Wharf, the Marina, across the Golden Gate Bridge and back! In addition to being the title sponsor of the 2013 Marathon, Wipro provided consulting and technology recommendations to TSFM to enhance user and participant experience. The recommendations were based on research Wipro did with local running communities and athletes, to better understand their needs. The services included enhancing the Marathon's existing web pages with video based content from local experts. These videos cover inspirational local stories of determination and courage, tips for optimal performance, nutrition, running and event-specific tutorials.

ITB Prevention - Prevention is better than Cure. This demonstration Manuel E. Valle, DC, CCSP and ART from the Bay Area Sports Chiros and his assistant from the San Francisco marathon staff, will show you how prevent ITB or Iliotibial Band Syndrome, which is a common running injury. Three simple maneuvers before a run does all the magic. This video also will help you reduce the irritation caused by ITB through proper stretching with a foam roll and an easy to do strengthening exercise!
