Harvard Business Review chronicles Wipro’s lean implementation

It’s a matter of great pride for Wipro that a recent article “Lean Knowledge work” in Harvard Business Review’s October edition chronicled Wipro’s successful implementation of lean principles in its operations to enable better services to its clients.

Wipro has been a pioneer in adoption of lean principles in IT Services industry. In 2004 we set out with the ambitious initiative to optimize our service delivery and over years this has helped us offer superior quality of service to our customers.

The article is centered on study of 1883 Wipro projects that involved complex Product Engineering or delivery of IT Solutions. Of these projects 772 used lean principles and 1111 projects did not. The authors of the article also observed many of these projects as they were carried out. Based on the extensive study of Wipro’s lean journey the article defines six principles which can be customized and applied to any knowledge based industries.
